(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit, under the direction of OPP Detective Inspector Dave Robinson of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), is investigating the death of 22 month old Owen BEFURT.
As a result of a 911 call shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Monday March 28, 2016, emergency personnel responded to a private residence along Main St. in Atwood where a child was seriously injured as a result of falling down a stairway. The child was rushed to the Listowel Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
A forensic post-mortem examination was conducted on March 28, 2016, at London’s University Hospital. The results of the medical examinations and the police investigation indicate that no foul play was involved.
The OPP is not expecting to lay charges. They wish to thank the public and all involved agencies for their assistance in this investigation.
