Foot Patrol Arrest

On October 20, 2013 at 9:52 a.m., two members of the Community Foot Patrol Unit observed a male ride his bicycle through a red light at Richmond Street at York Street. While interacting with this man, he fled on foot.

The male was arrested a short distance away and was found to be in possession of illicit drugs and prohibited weapons.

Through further checks, the officers found that the bicycle was reported stolen on October 17, 2013.
Seized were the following items:
– Two push knives;
– 11.3 g powder cocaine – $1130
– 5.1 g crack cocaine – $510
– 8.2 g crystal methamphetamine – $82
– $1040 Canadian currency

As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old Jamie Keenan of London has been charged with the following offences:
– Three counts of possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
– Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
– Two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
– Possession of a weapon contrary to order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
– Carry a concealed weapon, contrary to section 90(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
– Possession of property obtained by crime, contrary to section 354(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada; and
– Red light – fail to stop, contrary to section 144(18) of the Highway Traffic Act.
