Food Delivery Drivers Robbed

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is currently investigating several reports of food delivery drivers being robbed of food and cash.

On May 16, 2016, at approximately 1:25 am, a driver was making a delivery for a restaurant along the 2800 block of Sandalwood Drive. As he approached the unit, he saw two males in the hallway. As they opened the unit’s door, the driver was approached from behind by two other males. One of the suspects kept his hand in his pocket and heard a sound that suggested to him the suspect might have been armed with a handgun. The driver was pushed to the ground. The suspect stole the food and a small quantity and fled. There were no injuries. The suspects were unlawfully in the unit at the time of the offence. Descriptors were vague for this occurrence.

On June 10, 2016, at approximately 10:05 pm, a driver was making a delivery for a restaurant along the 2800 block of Cedarwood Drive. When the driver approached the unit, he was met by a male, who invited him into the unit. Once inside, the driver was accosted by two other males, one masked and armed with a handgun. The suspect took the driver’s cell phone and cash. There were no injuries. The unit was vacant and the suspects were unlawfully inside at the time of the offence. There were no injuries. The suspects were described as being black males, 15-18 years of age.

On June 14, 2016 at approximately 2:40 am, a driver for a restaurant was making a delivery to an address situated along the 2800 block of Baycrest Drive. The driver was met by a female, who asked the driver to wait while she got money. The driver realized the unit was vacant, became suspicious, and went to leave when accosted by three males who walked out of the unit. The driver was pushed to the ground, threatened, and a demand was made for his money. The suspects fled with the food and a small quantity of cash. The driver sustained minor injuries.

The suspects are described as follows:

#1-Caucasian female, approximately 20 years, round face, shoulder length hair

#2-Black male, approximately 22 years, tall, skinny, face covered with mask or by other means from the nose down, spoke English

#3 & 4-Caucasian males, 15-16 years

Most recently, on June 16, 2016, at approximately 1:00 am, a driver was making a delivery for a restaurant to an address situated along the 1100 block of Rockingham Private. When the driver attended, there was no answer at the door. On calling the client, the driver was directed to attend the rear of the building, where he was met by two males, one armed with a handgun. The driver was searched and had a small quantity of money taken, as well as the food order. There were no injuries. The suspects are described as follows:

#1-Black male, 25-30 years, approximately 5’6(168 cm)
