Five Buzzed Drivers Get Suspensions

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce OPP issued five 3 day licence suspensions over the weekend. Three of the suspensions were issued at R.I.D.E. checkpoints; 1 was served at a single vehicle crash.

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On April 23rd, 2012 at 2:35 am, a Black Chrysler Concorde stopped at a R.I.D.E. check stop on Highway 9, Brant Township, and officers noted that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The 42 year old driver was issued a 3 day licence suspension following a “warn” test result at the roadside.

(HURON TWP, ON) – On April 22nd, 2012 at 2:56 am, a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along Bruce County Road 6; stopped a Red Ford pickup truck. The officer discovered that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The 26 year old driver was issued a 3 day licence suspension following a “warn” test result at the roadside.

(ELMWOOD, ON) – On April 22nd, 2012 at 12:18 am, a White GMC van stopped at a R.I.D.E. check point on Main Street South in Elmwood. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The 58 year old driver was issued a 3 day licence suspension following a “warn” test result at the roadside.

(CULROSS TWP, ON) – On April 21st, 2012 at 11:30 pm, the South Bruce OPP received a report of a single vehicle crash on the Kinloss-Culross Town line in Culross Township. Officers arrived to find a White Chevrolet Avalanche left the roadway and entered the north ditch. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. The 17 year old driver was issued a 3 day licence suspension following a “warn” test result at the road side and charged for Novice driver – BAC over zero. The driver was treated for minor injuries sustained in the crash.

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On April 21st, 2012 at 3:46 pm, a Grey Dodge Dakota stopped at a R.I.D.E. check on Huron Terrace in Kincardine. Officers noted that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The 60 year old driver was issued a 3 day licence suspension following a “warn” test result at the road side.

Motorists are reminded that the South Bruce OPP has a zero tolerance for drivers that choose to drive after drinking alcohol.
