On April 12th 2016, at approximately 8:00 a.m. there was a motor vehicle collision on Hespler Road at the Highway 401 Eastbound Ramp in Cambridge. The collision involves a Honda CRV and a City of Cambridge Fire truck, which was responding to a collision involving a transport truck and a school bus. Both vehicles were northbound at the time of the collision and the fire truck has its lights and siren activated. The driver of the CRV, a 52 year old was taken to CMH via ambulance for assessment but was released shortly thereafter. No firefighters were injured. The incident was investigated by the Traffic Services Branch who were assisted by multiple witnesses who stayed on scene. As a result of the investigation a 53 year old Cambridge Fire fighter was charged with careless driving.
