Fire Truck Involved In Collision In Owen Sound

At 5:00 pm on Tuesday July 19 th the Inter-Township Fire Services was responding to an emergency call when it was struck by a passenger vehicle at 10 th Street East and 9 th Avenue in Owen Sound.

The fire truck was driving eastbound on 10 th Street East approaching 9 th Avenue when it moved into the unoccupied westbound lanes. Two vehicles that were being driven southbound on 9 th Avenue, made a right turn onto westbound 10 th Street East. The first of the two vehicles, a large motor- home, stopped to allow right of way to the fire truck. It is alleged that the second vehicle, also turned and when the motor-home stopped, it proceeded around the motor-home and collided with the fire truck.

The air bags in the vehicle deployed and the driver was taken to hospital by EMS with what was reported as minor injuries.

The vehicle that collided with the fire truck was demolished.

The Owen Sound Police remind you that when you hear or see an emergency vehicle with its sirens and lights activated, you must safely pull to the side of the roadway and stop.
