(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Friday January 21, 2011 at 7 a.m. Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to an apartment building at 55 Ontario Street in Mitchell where a fire alarm had been activated and a fire extinguisher had been emptied.
Investigation revealed that the fire extinguisher contents were sprayed all over the carpet of the stairs leading to the second storey apartments while there had been no fire.
A tall skinny male wearing black pants and black shoes had been observed in the building just prior to the extinguisher being emptied and the alarm pulled.
The OPP is investigating this as a mischief and wilful fire alarm activation incident. They wish to speak to anyone who may have observed this male or who has knowledge of this incident. Both of these offences are serious Criminal Code offences.
