On April 7, 2014 at 01:50 am, a Waterloo Regional Police officer noticed a large fire at the entrance to Cambridge Memorial Hospital, 700 Coronation Blvd, Cambridge. Police and the Cambridge Fire Department extinguished the fire which appeared to have been started in a trash can and then spread to the building. Through further investigation, police arrested a 38 year old male and charged him with Arson- Disregard for Human Life. The male was held for a show cause hearing. There were no injuries and the total damage has been estimated at twenty five thousand dollars.
