(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Two drivers and a passenger were all fortunate to escape serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash that took place south of Wingham yesterday afternoon.
At 5:05 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, and North Huron Fire Department personnel were dispatched to attend to a two-vehicle crash located on London Road (County Road 4) at Belfast Road.
Upon arrival, emergency services providers found a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck fully engulfed in flames. The female driver was able to get out of the vehicle before it erupted in flames.
The subsequent police investigation determined a Chevrolet GM4 pickup truck was travelling northbound on London Road when the driver signaled, slowed and attempted to turn westbound onto Belfast Road. The driver of the trailing vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado, failed to recognize the vehicle ahead was stopping. The driver attempted to avoid the collision by maneuvering onto the shoulder however her pickup truck collided with the rear of the lead pickup.
The driver of the Chevrolet GM4, a 21-year-old female from Morris-Turnberry and a 35-year-old male passenger, also from Morris-Turnberry sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, a 17-year-old female from Huron East also sustained non-life threatening injuries.
A charge under the Highway Traffic Act is pending.
