Festive RIDE – Week 3

(SOUTH BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The OPP is conducting its annual Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign from November 25, 2011 to January 1, 2012 and is reminding motorists that province-wide R.I.D.E. stops will be highly-visible throughout the holiday season.

The South Bruce OPP is utilizing all available personnel to participate in the Festive R.I.D.E. campaign. 2 charges have been laid during the third week:

December 16th, 2011 at 8:30 pm, R.I.D.E. check on King Street South, Tiverton. 54 year old Robert ASHDOWN of Port Elgin was charged for Drive with no validation on permit.

December 16th, 2011 at 9:00 pm, R.I.D.E. check on Durham Street, Kincardine. 45 year old Mark PROVAN of Toronto was charged for Drive no validation on permit.

“The holiday season provides an opportunity to visit with family, friends and co workers. This is not a good time to mark the death of, or serious injury to, someone you care for. There is no excuse for drinking and driving, drive sober or don’t drive at all. The South Bruce OPP has a zero tolerance for drinking and driving.” – Inspector Bill Klym, Commander, South Bruce OPP.
