Festive RIDE Launch – 406 Vehicles Stopped

(WALKERTON, ON) – On December 3rd, 2010 at 2:00 pm, the South Bruce OPP hosted a 2010 Festive R.I.D.E. media launch in the town of Walkerton. Along with members from the Owen Sound Police Service, Grey County OPP, Hanover Police Service, West Grey Police Service, Bruce Peninsula OPP and Saugeen Shores Police Service, the R.I.D.E. check was set up on Durham Street East. “Each police service in Grey and Bruce Counties were represented to send a unified message that impaired drivers represent a significant risk to public safety that won’t be tolerated”.

406 vehicles were checked at the R.I.D.E. stop with no roadside tests administered and no Liquor Licence Act violations identified. South Bruce OPP detachment commander Inspector Bill Klym was pleased with the R.I.D.E. media launch results, but is reminding drivers that R.I.D.E. checks will continue through the Festive R.I.D.E. campaign and each shift all year long. “An impaired driver is an unacceptable and completely preventable threat to public safety on the roads”.
