On December 9, 2012 at 9:49am, Guelph Police were notified of a motor vehicle that was being operated in an erratic fashion in the area of Paisley Road and Alma Road. The vehicle, a 2007 Mazda came to rest in front of St. Joseph Catholic Church on Guelph Street. The vehicle was heavily damaged and the driver, an 88 year-old Guelph female was found in a disoriented state. Her medical condition deteriorated rapidly and she was rushed to Guelph General Hospital where she passed away.
Officers traced the path of the motor vehicle to her residence at 281 Bristol Street where a collision scene was located. Evidence collected at this scene point towards the motor vehicle colliding with two cement partitions in an underground parking garage.
The death is not believed to be suspicious, nor is it attributed to the collision.
Her motor vehicle was demolished at an estimated value of over $6500.00.
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in this collision.
