Waterloo Regional Police Detectives are investigating an assault on a female pedestrian on Regina Street in the City of Waterloo. On November 6, 2014, at approximately midnight (Thursday night, into Friday morning), a female victim was walking on Regina Street, near Dupont Street, Waterloo when she was approached by an unknown male who attempted to start a conversation with her. The victim ignored the male and continued walking at which time she was suddenly punched and knocked to the ground. The victim sustained minor injuries. Bystanders in the area of Princess Street witnessed the incident and went to assist the victim. Investigators would like to speak to these bystanders, or anyone else who may have witnessed the incident. The suspect is described as: male, 20-24 years old, medium build, short brown hair, no facial hair and wearing a blue zip-up hooded sweatshirt with white strings on the front.
