A concerned citizen called police to report an erratic driver coming into Barrie from Hwy 90. The vehicle had been swerving into oncoming traffic. As police began looking for the vehicle it made a stop in Barrie and picked up a male passenger. The caller reported that the vehicle then attended a Bayfield Street business and when police arrived the driver and passenger attempted to switch positions.
Police spoke with a 31 year old Barrie female and were able to form the opinion that she was impaired. She was arrested for that offence however once at the station, it was determined that she had not consumed any alcohol. A demand was given for her to submit to drug recognition testing. With the help of a Drug Recognition Evaluator from York Regional Police it was suspected that she had consumed a quantity of oxycontin and that she was impaired by drugs.
The female was released on a Promise to Appear in court.
