Fed EX Truck vs Honda Collision

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Wednesday October 10, 2012, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to crash at the intersection of Perth Road 121 and Line 67 south of Millbank.

Investigation revealed that a Honda Accord being operated by a 32 year old female from the Township of Perth East had been travelling west bound on Line 67. The Honda was brought to a stop at the stop sign controlled intersection at Perth Road 121.

The Honda driver then proceeded through the intersection directly in front of a south bound Fed EX courier truck being operated by a 62 year old Kitchener male. The courier truck travelling on the through highway, struck the passenger side of the Accord causing both vehicles to enter the ditch on the south east corner of the intersection.

The driver of the courier truck was transported to Stratford General Hospital with minor injuries, while the driver of the Honda was only examined at the scene. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and large amounts of debris were strewn across the roadway. As a result of this investigation the Honda driver has been charged with “careless driving”.

Motorists are reminded to “Stop and Look” when crossing major roadways. Both drivers are fortunate to walk away from this collision, as it had the potential to cause much more serious injuries.
