FATHER CHARGED WITH CAR SEAT VIOLATION
(ST.MARYS, ON) On Monday April 04, 2011 at approximately 8:44 a.m., a Perth County OPP officer in St.Marys observed a car driving down Ontario St. while a child passenger in the car was not in a car seat.
The officer pulled over the car and discovered that the father who was driving the vehicle was dropping off his 3 year old daughter at daycare. The father, a 37 year old St.Marys resident was charged with “fail to ensure toddler properly secured†which carries a set fine of $200 plus $40 for court cost and victim surcharge. He was also charged for driving a motor vehicle with no licence.
The Perth County OPP wants to remind the public that car crashes are the number one cause of death for Canadian children! Ensure that any infant, toddler, pre-schooler or youth is safe and secure, and is buckled up right. Residents in St.Marys are also advised that “Car Seat Lanes†will be held on Tuesday April 12, 2011 at the Fire hall parking lot on James St. south, from 1 – 3 p.m. You can have your car seat installation inspected and you will be able to speak to car seat technicians about the most recent information on car seats.
