On Sunday October 9th, 2016 at approximately 5:15 pm, a pedestrian was struck by a westbound Via train on the CN railroad tracks near Plains Road west and Spring Gardens Road in the City of Burlington. The train was destined for Toronto from Windsor when the collision occurred.
The incident did not occur at a level crossing, and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
This is the first pedestrian/train related fatality in the Region of Halton in 2016.
