On Saturday September 3rd, 2016, at approximately 2am, a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck occurred at the intersection of Main Street West and James Street South in the City of Hamilton.
A lone motorcyclist was travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed on Main Street West. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist approached James Street and struck the rear quarter panel of a pickup truck travelling southbound on James Street.
The motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital while the truck driver, a 45 year old Hamilton resident, remained uninjured.
Police are not releasing the identity of the motorcyclist until his family is located and notified. The investigation is in the early stages and remains ongoing.
The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken carriage of the investigation and any witnesses who have yet to speak with police are requested to contact Detective Constable Matt Hewko at (905) 546-4755.
This is the 6th driver death and brings the total fatal count to 10 for 2016.
