Fatal Industrial Accident

On August 27, 2015 at 1:46 p.m., the Guelph Police were called to a business on Independence Place to investigate an industrial accident. A 26-year-old Kitchener man was killed when he was pinned at a machine.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating.

Theft from business

On August 27, 2015 at 3:35 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Paisley Road business to investigate a theft. A male had entered through the unlocked back door and was seen by staff going through an employee’s purse. The male fled on foot, last seen heading south behind the Market Fresh plaza.

He is described as:

Male, 5’9”, dark skinned and wearing brown pants.

Assault investigated

On August 27, 2015 at 1:50 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the London Road area to investigate an assault. A female was in her car on London Road at Park Avenue when a cyclist spit at her. The cyclist continued on last seen heading towards Woolwich Street.

The cyclist is described as:

Male white, 20-years-old, short blond hair, wearing a black leather jacket and jeans.

Two collisions reported within minutes

On August 27, 2015 just before 5:00 p.m., the Guelph Police received a call about a two vehicle collision on Victoria Road just north of College Avenue. While that collision was being called into police, another collision occurred at this same location, this one involving three vehicles. No injuries were reported in either collision and damages were considered to be minor.

Drive over 80 mg – arrest

On August 28, 2015 at 12:25 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Silvercreek Parkway North after observing it driving at a high rate of speed. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Fatih Erturk, 51 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with speeding. He will appear in court on September 15, 2015.
