The identity of the deceased has been confirmed as 73 year old Howard William MCCALL of Brock Street, Brantford.
The Brantford Police Service has completed their investigation and concluded that the fatal fire investigation is not deemed suspicious in nature.

On Saturday August 8, 2015 in the early morning hours, a fire broke out inside a residence near Brock and Grey Street. Neighbors in the area were able to rescue an elderly resident from the home but were unable to reach a second elderly person from the residence. Brantford Police and fire arrived on scene shortly after the initial 911 call was received. The home was engulfed in flames at the time emergency services arrived on scene.
At this time the investigation is ongoing as to the cause of the fire. The Ontario Fire Marshalls office has been notified and will be conducting a parallel investigation along with Police. Howard William MCCALL, 73 years of age, succumbed to his injuries.
