(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal vehicle collision on Hwy. 10 between Road 180 and Road 190 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.
Preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 9:32 a.m. this morning, April 3, 2016, a collision occurred between a Pontiac Montana mini-van and a horse-drawn vehicle carrying nine people. Both vehicles were travelling southbound on Hwy. 10.
Grey Highlands Fire Department, Grey County and Dufferin County Emergency Services (EMS) assisted at the scene.
One of the passengers from the horse-drawn vehicle is confirmed deceased. Another has been air lifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The two occupants in the mini-van suffered minor injuries.
Hwy. 10 between Road 180 and Road 190 is closed for the safety of emergency personnel investigating at the scene. The OPP West Regional Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is assisting with the investigation. Grey County OPP is requesting the public to respect the road closure and avoid the area until further notice.
The investigation is in its early stages. Additional information will be released when accurate and confirmed details become available.
