(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – At approximately 10:50 p.m. on August 23, 2016, Members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Perth County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Perth Line 26 between Road 109 and Road 110.
Investigation revealed that a compact black car travelling eastbound on Perth Line 26 proceeded to pass a full sized eastbound Chevy Express van in the westbound lane. A westbound Pontiac Grand Prix travelling in the westbound lane veered onto the north gravel shoulder in an attempt to avoid colliding with the small black car. The Grand Prix lost control on the gravel shoulder, veered across the westbound lane and was T-boned on the passenger side by the Chevy van.
The deceased male driver of the 1999 Grand Prix has been identified as 26-year-old Jason RAMTAHAL of Kitchener.
The Perth County OPP is seeking to identify the black car and its driver. The compact black car, possibly a Kia or Honda failed to stop or remain and continued eastbound on Perth Line 26. It was last observed heading in the direction of Tavistock.
The Perth County OPP is requesting the driver of the black car to come forward and contact them. The OPP West Region Technical Traffic Investigation (TTCI) Unit remains at the scene as it is assisting with the investigation.
