Fatal Hit And Run In Perth – Police Seeking Public Assistance In Locating Black Compact Car

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – It has been nearly a month, since the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the August 23rd fatal motor vehicle collision on Perth Line 26 between Road 109 and Road 110.

The collision occurred at approximately 10:50 p.m. on August 23, 2016. It involved a compact black car travelling eastbound on Perth Line 26 that proceeded to pass a full sized eastbound Chevy Express van in the westbound lane. A westbound Pontiac Grand Prix travelling in the westbound lane veered onto the north gravel shoulder in an attempt to avoid colliding with the small black car. The Grand Prix lost control on the gravel shoulder, veered across the westbound lane and was T-boned on the passenger side by the Chevy van.

The 26-year-old male driver of the Grand Prix, Jason RAMTAHAL of Kitchener died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the collision.

The black compact car, possibly a Kia or Honda, failed to stop or remain and continued eastbound on Perth Line 26 and was last observed heading in the direction of Tavistock.

The Perth County OPP is making a plea for the driver of the black car to come forward and contact them. Anyone with information about this collision is urged to contact the Perth County OPP at (519) 393-6123 or 1-888-310-1122.
