Fatal Collision Update – Name Of Deceased Grand Bend Woman Released

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – Middlesex Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers investigated a fatal two motor vehicle collision which occurred at approximately 2:56 p.m. on October 18, 2015.

The collision occurred on Nairn Road, in the area of Fort Rose Road, North Middlesex, Ontario. A black Acura car, being driven by a 63 year old woman, was traveling east on Nairn Road, while a white GMC SUV was travelling west, when the collision occurred.

The driver of the Acura crossed over the centre line, losing control of the vehicle, and was then struck broad side on the passenger side of the vehicle by the GMC.

The lone driver of the Acura, Charlotte DEGRAW, from Grand Bend, Ontario, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Release of the deceased name was held pending notification of next of kin.

The two occupants in the GMC, both from Grand Bend, Ontario, were transported to hospital in serious but stable condition. The 79 year old male driver, Hugh BARR, and the 58 year old female passenger, Catherine BARR, each remain in hospital, where they are currently listed in fair condition.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

Nairn Rd. remained closed for approximately 5.5 hours, and traffic was re-routed around the area. The roadway has since been re-opened.
