(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On October 2, 2016, at approximately 6:08 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and the Middlesex Centre Fire Services responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision.
A white Ford pickup truck and a black Honda van collided in the intersection of Ilderton Road and Vanneck Road. Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway, on the northwest corner of the intersection.
The male driver (and lone occupant) of the pickup truck suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He has been identified as 66-year-old Garry TREVITHICK, from North Middlesex, Ontario.
The driver (and lone occupant) of the van was a 46-year-old male from London, Ontario. He was extricated from the vehicle and transported by Ornge air ambulance with non-life threatening injuries to hospital, where he remains, currently listed in fair condition.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation. The intersection was closed until approximately 3:30 a.m., while the investigation continued, and Hydro One repaired a hydro pole which was broken in the collision.
This incident is still under investigation.
