Fatal Collision South Of Londesborough – Two Airlifted To Hospital – London Road Remains Closed

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and members from the OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team (TTCI) are currently investigating an early morning fatal collision that has occurred south of Londesborough.

Just after 3:30 a.m. officers from the Huron County OPP Detachment along with personnel from Central Huron Fire Department and Huron County EMS responded to a crash scene located on London Road (Huron County Road # 4) near Summerhill Road.

The initial investigation has determined the driver of a Nissan Quest minivan was travelling southbound on London Road when the vehicle collided with a deer on the roadway. The driver then lost control of the vehicle as it veered off the roadway and down a steep embankment on the east side where it ultimately came to rest on its wheels in a shallow creek.

Five male occupants were in the vehicle.

One of the passengers was transported from the scene by land ambulance and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The driver and another passenger have been airlifted to hospital in London with life threatening injuries. Two other passengers were transported to local hospitals with serious but stable injuries.

London Road (Huron County Road # 4) remains closed between Winthrop Road and Summerhill Road.

Please take alternate routes to avoid delays.

The identity of the deceased will be released pending next of kin notification.
