Fatal Collision In Vaughan

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision in the City of Vaughan.

On Friday, June 24, 2016, shortly after 12:30 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a serious collision on northbound Regional Road 99, which is also known as the Highway 427 extension, north of Highway 7. The vehicles involved were a tractor trailer and a garbage truck. The driver of the garbage truck, a 55 year-old man from the City of Barrie, was transported to hospital, where he has since succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Both directions of Regional Road 99 from Highway 7 through to Zenway Boulevard were closed for several hours for the collision investigation. They have since re-opened.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police are being asked to please come forward.
