(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) On Tuesday May 7, 2013, at approximately 3:20pm, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Wellington County Road 7 just south of Wellington County Road 109, in Mapleton Township.
Wellington County OPP along with the Mapleton Twp Fire Department and Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the scene.
Investigation revealed that a northbound Chevrolet pick-up truck crossed the centre line and collided with a southbound transport truck.
The male driver of the pick-up truck, Lorne Martin aged 66 of Mapleton Twp was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the transport truck was uninjured.
Wellington County and West Region OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. Victim Services Wellington was contacted.
The investigation is still on-going at this time.
