Fake Garbage Tags

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On April 6th, 2011 at 1:00 pm, the South Bruce OPP received a report of fraudulent garbage bag tags being used in the Municipality of Kincardine. A tag in question was turned over to police and observed to be an obvious imitation. The fake tag was a photocopy of a Municipality of Kincardine garbage bag tag with fuzzy writing on the front and no adhesive backing on the back. Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling advised that residents are issued 26 tags each year, additional tags are available at a cost of $2.50 each. Garbage bags left at the curb without a legitimate Municipality issued garbage bag tag will not be picked up. Anyone with information on this fraud is asked to the call the South Bruce OPP or Crime Stoppers.
