On Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at approximately 3:20 p.m., two males with their faces covered entered the Fairmont Mini Mart located at 1161 Hamilton Road. A firearm was produced and cash was demanded.
The suspects fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes. No one sustained any injuries.
Two males were arrested a short time later and the cash, cigarettes, and a replica handgun were recovered.
As a result of the investigation, 23-year-old Jack Nguyen and 21-year-old Jolson Proctor, both of London, were charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
– Armed robbery, contrary to section 343(d);
– Using an imitation firearm in the commission of an indictable offence, contrary to section 85(2)(a); and
– Having face disguised during the commission of an offence, contrary to section 351(2).
Jack Nguyen was further charged with fail to comply with recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
On Friday, November 1, 2013 at 2:58 p.m., a robbery occurred at the Fairmont Mini Mart where a cash, cigarettes, and lottery tickets were taken. No one was injured.
Jack Nguyen has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences in relation to that incident:
– Armed robbery, contrary to section 343(d);
– Using an imitation firearm in the commission of an indictable offence, contrary to section 85(2)(a);
– Having face disguised during the commission of an offence, contrary to section 351(2); and
– Fail to comply with recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
