(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Friday April 15, 2016, shortly after 1 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol observed a vehicle fail to signal when required while travelling on Perth Road 121 north of Millbank.
The officer pulled over the vehicle and while speaking with the male driver determined that he showed signs of impairment. The driver was transported to the Stratford Police Station where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.
44-year-old Jeffery James SCHAUS of Woodstock was charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences: “driving while ability impaired-motor vehicle”, and “driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood”. He was also charged with the following Ontario Highway Traffic Act offence: “driving while under suspension”. He will appear at the Stratford Ontario Court of Justice on May 16, 2016, to answer to these charges.
His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his Ford Explorer was impounded for a period of seven days as per statue.
