(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Monday September 20, 2010 shortly after 11:30 p.m. Perth County OPP officer were informed of a possible collision that had taken place along Hwy. 8 west of Shakespeare. Tracks were observed leaving the paved portion of Hwy. 8 entering into the south ditch. There the vehicle had sideswiped a utility pole and continued through a cornfield to Sackville St. where it entered the village of Shakespeare.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle proceeded back to Hwy. 8 where it travelled in a westerly direction towards Stratford. The suspect vehicle was subsequently located at a motel east of Stratford. The driver a 60 year old North Easthope Twp. resident has been charged with failing to remain at a collision, and with careless driving. There were no injuries as a result of this collision but the vehicle involved sustained extensive damage.
