(EXETER, ON) – A 53-year-old driver from Exeter has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams following a traffic stop that took place this past weekend. At approximately 9:30 p.m. on April 9, 2016 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Ford Escape travelling westbound on Gidley Street with no tail lights activated. The officer initiated a traffic stop and subsequently pulled the vehicle over near the intersection of Marlborough Street and Gidley Street.
Upon speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest for Driving a Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. He later provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 53-year-old David JACKSON from Exeter has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 19, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
