(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Saturday August 30, 2014, shortly before 9:30 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Hwy 23 and Line 53 (south of Monkton).
Upon arrival officers located a KIA motor vehicle in the ditch. The male driver of the vehicle was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was treated. At the hospital, an OPP Intoxilyzer technician obtained two breath samples from the driver. The driver failed the Intoxilyzer breath tests. He was also found to be in possession of suspected marihuana.
Ernest FELIX (49) of the Township of Perth East has been charged with, “driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in blood†and “driving while ability impaired†contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He has also been charged with “possession of a schedule II substance – cannabis Marihuana†contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on October 06, 2014, to answer to these charges. He was also issued a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
