Entry And Theft From A Home In Seniors Subdivision

(ST.MARYS, ON) On Tuesday October 04, 2011 Perth County OPP officers in St.Marys were contacted by a home owner from Ann St. in St.Marys who reported a theft from their home.

Investigation revealed that on Monday October 03, 2011 the victims had left their home from 3 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. They returned and did not immediately realize their home had been entered and items had been removed. During the evening the homeowners noticed that cash was missing from a purse and wallet as well as a lady’s gold ring (with 7 diamonds) that had been removed from a bedroom. The culprit entered the house by means of an unlocked side door and most likely exited the residence by a rear patio door which leads to an open field and the old abandoned railway line.

Homeowners are urged to secure their homes even when out for short periods of time so as to avoid these crimes of opportunity. The Perth County OPP is requesting anyone who may have information about this break-in to contact them at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
