On Friday, March 31, 2017 at approximately 1:30 pm, Waterloo Regional Police Service officers responded to a residence on Linda Drive in Cambridge after receiving information of an incident which a firearm was involved. The involved individuals were known to each other. For public safety reasons, Emergency Response Unit officers attended and a nearby elementary school was placed on hold and secure for the safety of the students and staff. A 54 year old Cambridge male from Cambridge was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with numerous firearm related offences and held for a show cause hearing. There are no further public safety concerns at this time.
