A sharp eyed Uniform Patrol officer while on Cundles Road at Bayfield St saw an electric bike being operated on the highway. The officer observed the bicycle to have the pedals removed. As a result of this now being a motor vehicle by definition, he stopped it for investigation.
The officer received information that the 52 year old Barrie driver was currently prohibited from operating a motor vehicle in Canada for numerous Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act suspensions. The male was charged with Driving While Disqualified and Driving Under Suspension. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and he was released with a future court date.
