(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On March 13, 2018 at approximately 5:50 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of stolen vehicle from Guelph-Nichol Town Line, Township of Guelph-Eramosa. Shortly thereafter, with the help of On-Star, the vehicle was disabled when the thief attempted to flee from OPP. 20-year-old Dustin James LUCAS of Guelph was initially held for bail and charged with Flight from Police, Possession of Stolen Property over $5000, Possession of Stolen Property under $5000, Assault Police and Failing to comply with a Recognizance.
With the assistance of the Wellington County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) LUCAS faces further charges. OPP has also recovered over $40,000 in property, including two vehicles and assorted electronics. In addition to the original 5 charges, LUCAS now faces 20 new charges:
Attempted Assault with a Weapon
Theft of a Motor Vehicle over $5000
Theft under $5000
Possession of Stolen Property under $5000
Attempted Theft of a Motor Vehicle over $5000
Two counts of Break and Enter
Three counts of Possession of Stolen Property under $5000
Five counts of Fraudulently Using a Credit Card
Five counts of Fraud under $5000
LUCAS was remanded in custody to await bail.
