(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On Monday, November 9, 2015 at approximately 12:24 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a shotgun lost in the Township of Southgate by a hunter from Kitchener, Ontario.
On Saturday, November 7th, the caller had been hunting with others in a bush north of Grey Rd. 9, between Southgate Sideroad 47 and Southgate Sideroad 49. As it began to rain, the hunting party quickly cleared the area. The following day, after realizing that he had left his shotgun behind, he returned to the area to recover it. He notified police after he was unable to locate the shotgun.
The shotgun is described as follows: Beretta Model 303, 12GA, semi-automatic, 30” barrel, brown wooden stock with black metal, firearm identification number: 3882873. The firearm was unloaded but did have ammunition attached to it by way of a stock sleeve.
