(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) At 11 p.m. on Saturday May 12, 2012, an intoxicated male making his way past the OPP Detachment on St. George St. in Mitchell observed what he thought was a pay phone on the wall. The male used the Police emergency phone to call for a taxi. The police dispatcher answering the phone realized that the male on the other end was extremely intoxicated immediately dispatched an officer.
The officer determined that no one was around to take the male and he was unable to care for himself. He was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. The twenty two year old Township of Perth South man was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville where he was lodged until sober. Upon being released, he was handed a $65 ticket for “being intoxicated in public placeâ€Â.
