Drunk Driving Collision Results In Drug Charges

At approximately 8:10pm Barrie Police were called to the area of Bayfield St and Hwy 400 for a two car accident.

Police were told one vehicle had its air bags deployed and the driver and passenger walked away from the scene.

Police arrived and located the male driver in an intoxicated condition and was arrested for impaired driving.

He was transported to the Barrie Police Service for a series of breath tests which were almost three (3) times the legal limit of 80mgs/100ml.

A female passenger in the vehicle left the scene causing Police to search for her to ensure she did not have any serious injuries.

She was located nearby and found to be in an extremely intoxicated condition.

As a result, she was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and as a result Police located a large amount of illegal drugs in her possession.

Police seized 153 grams of marihuana, 29 grams of hashish and 18 Percocet.

The male is charged with

Impaired driving, driving over 80mgs/100ml, possession of marihuana, possession of hashish, possession of percocet and three counts of possession (of drugs) for the purpose of trafficking.

The female was charged with possession of marihuana, possession of hashish and possession of percocet and three counts of possession (of drugs) for the purpose of trafficking.

Both parties were held till sober and are now facing a December court date.
