(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) – On Saturday February 20, 2016, around 7 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a property along Road 140 south of Line 29 (south of Sebringville) where a person was seated behind the wheel of a minivan that was stuck in a field.
Officers attended and located the van within meters of the roadway. The lone male in the vehicle was spoken to. The officers detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on the male’s breath and observed obvious signs of impairment.
The driver was arrested and transported the Exeter OPP Detachment where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the minivan was impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
37-year-old Steven Keith LEISHMAN of London has been charged with Care or Control While Impaired, and Care or Control Over 80 Mgs, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Stratford Criminal Court on March 07, 2016 to answer to the charges.
