Drunk Driver From West Perth Arrested – Name Released

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On Tuesday March 14, 2017 shortly before 8:00 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a Chevrolet Equinox on Quebec Street in the Municipality of West Perth.

The officer, upon dealing with the driver, detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and taken to Perth County OPP detachment in Sebringville for further testing. He later provided samples of his breath into an Intoxilyzer and registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 47-year-old Michael HAZUDA from West Perth has been charged with driving with more than 80 Milligrams of alcohol and driving while ability impaired contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He was also charged with driving motor vehicle with no currently validated permit, fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, use plate not authorized for vehicle and two counts of drive under suspension all under the Highway Traffic Act. He was also charged with fail to surrender insurance card under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on March 27, 2017. He also received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was seized for 7 days.
