(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON.) – On Saturday, September 28, 2013 shortly after 5:00p.m., officers from the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for a motor vehicle collision with possible injuries in the Gould Lake area.
The vehicle left the road and crashed into guard rails. The driver fled the scene and swam across the lake to avoid Police. He was located hiding under a dock; police entered the water to affect an arrest as the male was uncooperative. The intoxicated male was stark naked and smelled strongly of alcohol. He was arrested for impaired driving. As Police continued their investigation, the male’s clothes were located. Other illegal substances were also with his clothes.
The 22-year-old Owen Sound male was charged with the following offences: driving while disqualified; drive while suspended; fail to remain; impaired operation of a motor vehicle; over 80; and possession of a controlled substance.
The male was released on a Promise to Appear in Owen Sound Court on October 10, 2013 to answer to the charges.
This incident is still being investigated by the OPP.
