(ST.MARYS, ON) – On Saturday June 25, 2016, around 7:30 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to the bridge between Water St. and Park St. in St.Marys, where a car collided with the bridge guardrail.
Investigation revealed that a Hyundai Sedan travelled northbound on Water Street South, when the driver failed to negotiate the bridge entrance and struck the guardrail on the east side of the bridge. The uninjured female driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. She was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville where she failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.
32-year-old Jessica COMEAU of Stratford has been charged with “driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol)”, and “driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood”, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She is scheduled to appear at the Stratford Court of Justice on Monday July 25, 2016, to answer to these charges. She was issued an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and her motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
