At approximately 12:40am on September 30th, 2013 Police responded to a motor vehicle accident at 1408 4th Avenue West. Police attended and observed a vehicle upon the residential lawn, which had struck a tree. The driver and three passengers were examined by paramedics with one of the passengers attending the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The vehicle was travelling westbound through the intersection of 4th Avenue West and 14th Street West when it drove over the sidewalk and onto the lawn of 1408 4th Avenue West. The vehicle struck a tree, then the brick house causing damage to home and side porch. The vehicle continued moving forward, driving through a fence and coming to rest after striking a second tree. Police located numerous empty cans of beer and a small quantity of Marihuana inside the vehicle.
Investigation revealed that the male driver of the motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.
The 33 year old Clifford, Ontario male was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 milligrams of Alcohol and Possession of Marihuana. The accused is scheduled to appear in Owen Sound court on October 10th, 2013.
