(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On Friday April 6, 2018 at approximately 5:30 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a four-vehicle collision on Water Street West and Metcalf Street, Elora. It was reported that a grey sedan had caused a chain reaction, rear end collision.
Police attended and while speaking with the male driver of the grey sedan formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing. No one was injured in the crash.
54-year-old Rene Joseph VIENNEAU of Elora has been charged with Impaired Driving and Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on May 4, 2018.
