Drunk Driver Caught With Cocaine In Goderich

(GODERICH, ON) – A 53–year-old driver from Central Huron is facing three criminal charges after he was stopped and charged by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on March 18, 2016.

At approximately 8:40 p.m. a Huron OPP officer observed a Chevrolet Malibu travelling eastbound on Huron Road in an erratic manner. The vehicle was stopped at the eastern boundary into Goderich and the officer spoke with the driver. Upon speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had consumed alcohol and was displaying several signs that he was impaired by alcohol.

The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was searched. Upon searching the driver the investigating officer located a quantity of cocaine. The driver was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 53-year-old Richard BOURASSA from Central Huron has been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine). He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 18, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
