(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 30-year-old male from Kitchener will be returning to Huron County for a court date in March following his arrest for Impaired Driving this past weekend.
At approximately 10:18 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 the driver of a Ford F-150 entered into a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint located at the intersection of Cameron Street and Lidderdale Street in Bayfield. The investigating officer spoke with the driver and made some observations that the driver had consumed some alcohol and was displaying physical signs of impairment.
As a result, the driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
30-year-old James DELAAT from Kitchener has been charged with Impaired Driving & Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 6, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and impounded for the week.
