(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 27 year old driver from Mitchell is facing a court date for Racing and Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol charges stemming from a traffic stop on December 28, 2014.
At 6:18 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted a two-door Mercury travelling northbound on London Road near Huron Park Road at a high rate of speed. The officer confirmed his observations with a RADAR device and measured the vehicle’s speed at 132 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.
The speedy driver was stopped and upon speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a fail. He was arrested and subsequently transported to the Exeter OPP detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 27 year old Adam MASON from Mitchell has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Racing. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter on January 29, 2015. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
